ART CRAWL "09 September 25th-27th







Event starts at 6pm at the NorthSide Resource Centre, maps will be available on the night to locate our venues.

A group exhibition showing a wide variety of media in various locations such as the Northside Community Resource Centre on Forthill, ArtMart Studios on the Mall, Push Remote Arts on Market Yard and a window display on Castle Street.

Local Artist Hilary Gilligan initiates a live public art project entitled “LOCAL? ” with the S.L.A.M! Art Crawl on Culture Night. The participating public are invited to label themselves for the evening as either “Local” or “Foreign”.
The artist requests that you reverse roles and label yourself the opposite of what you may perceive your identity to be. What happens? Let us know at www.slamart09.blogspot.com.

Also for the event is an out-door installation by Dooney Rock by Conor Gallagher. The installation is based on the Lovers tree. (A tree that has conjoint itself hence the name). Along the trail to this tree will be sketches and drawings by the artists. The aim is to encourage people to sketch their own interpretation of the tree and soak up the atmosphere.

Another out door installation takes place on the benches by the garavougue river from the town centre to Doorley Park. Rebecca Massey's installlation will consist of brown paper bags placed on each bench containing two pieces of bread, an information leaflet on duck feeding and information and facebook address of the newly formed 'Preservetion of Duck Feeding Conservation Society, Ireland.
The public will be invited to feed the ducks and then visit the facebook site to comment on there duck feeding experiences.
Any unused bags or stray rubbish will be collected by the Artist at the end of the crawl.

This Art Crawl has been organised for Culture Night 2009.
