Drink & Draw II

We are delighted to announce another Drink & Draw, put together by Wayne O' Conner. Its been a while since the previous one back in Novemeber 2009. As before the club invites anyone interested in doing a sketch over a chat and a pint. A very informal evening, all is required is a sketchbook and a pencil/markers whatever takes your fancy.

Founded by Dave Johnson, Jeff Johnson and Dan Panosian, the Drink & Draw Social Club was founded out of a mutual love of socializing, drinking and drawing. Drawing on napkins, menus, walls and sometimes even a sketchbook or two, this informal group huddles around the tables and booths of pubs and taverns for the unusual camradarie that it promises to bring.
The club started in America and has spread out across the country, with Drink and Draw clubs cropping up in San Diego, LA, New York, Miami and more and recently spreading to England and to Cork City.

Drink And Draw

Tuesday the 17th of November sees a special night for those of you with an artistic side. Taking place in Furey's Pub, Sligo at 8pm the Drink and Draw club will offer people a chance to socialize and sketch at the same time.

The Drink and Draw Social Club was founded out of mutual love of socializing, drinking and drawing by Dave Johnson, Jeff Johnson and Dan Panosian.
Drawing on napkins, menus, wallsand sometimes even a sketchbook or two, this informal group huddles around the tables and booths of pubs and taverns for the unusual camradarie that it promises to bring.
The club started in America and has spread out across the country, with Drink and Draw clubs cropping up in San Diego, LA, New York Miami and more recently spreading to England and Cork City.

The evening invites artists and non-artists of all levels to participate. Simply bring sketchbooks, pencils and a willingness to sketch or doodle as you chat and drink.
This event has been organised by Wayne O' Connor and supported by SLAM! “In the same way that musicians jam, Readers form book clubs and writers have creative writing workshops, this evening invites anyone to draw and share ideas or inspiration” says Wayne “while at the same time soaking up the atmosphere and having a few drinks in a pub environment”. All are welcome*

The artist requests that you reverse roles and label yourself the opposite of what you may perceive your identity to be. What happens? Let us know at www.slamart09.blogspot.com.

Also for the event is an out-door installation by Dooney Rock by Conor Gallagher. The installation is based on the Lovers tree. (A tree that has conjoint itself hence the name). Along the trail to this tree will be sketches and drawings by the artists. The aim is to encourage people to sketch their own interpretation of the tree and soak up the atmosphere.

Rebecca Massey's installlation will consist of brown paper bags placed on each bench containing two pieces of bread, an information leaflet on duck feeding and information and facebook address of the newly formed 'Preservetion of Duck Feeding Conservation Society, Ireland.
