THE MODEL ANNOUNCES CALL FOR STUDIO APPLICATIONS

The Model takes an integrated approach to programming, with a strong focus on contemporary culture and relevant global currencies mediated inclusively to diverse audiences. The Model is now undergoing a major Redevelopment that will see its operations and programme expand by over one third.

The new Model Building re-opens in 2010. With expanded facilities and space, The Model promises to be one of Ireland’s most unique art spaces. Inclusive of its Redevelopment are seven studios available for rental by professional artists.

Studio rentals are available for twelve-month durations from 12 - 36 months.
Fees for the studios are subsidised. There will be 24hr access as well as broadband access as generally available throughout the building at a small additional cost. Applicants should note that the studios are not residential.

The deadline for the receipt of applications for studio space at The Model is Friday 5 February 2010.

S.L.A.M! (Sligo Local Artists Movement) is a network established by local artists Lisa Cannon, Shane Finan, Sophia Murray & Siabhra O' Brien. It is for Artists working in all genres living in the Sligo area and the NorthWest.
The intention of SLAM is give Artists the opportunity to organize, produce & curate their own events, exhibitions & talks rather than waiting for organizations to accommodate them.
SLAM wishes to create a community of Artists from all genres to work together and take their own initiative.

While the artists named above are the co-founders of the establishment the object is to withdraw from the idea of there being a figure head and more a collective of creative minds.

This blog and our facebook page is available for Artists to advertise exhibitions (their own or other) engage with each other about different topics & discussions or to alert them on events around the country.
